Honored to play a small part in making this episode!

Thanks to @michaelhobbes.bsky.social for reaching out to me. My job was mostly starting to write down "he should also talk about this study" and then said study getting mentioned before I finished writing

I feel like I say this every year but I really need people to hear it. Halloween is the best American holiday. Just kids outside welcomed into their world, marching around together, showing off their costumes to the elderly, parents meeting parents, neighbors catching up with neighbors.

Happy Halloween! My algorithm is haunting me by serving videos of someone trying to build an ML model with 100% accuracy. Time to go celebrate my friend's spooky birthday and do zero math

Made a small React app with Typescript so friends could do a scavenger hunt during our Halloween party!

Main request was for a more extensive + harder hunt, which I'll take as a win. Time to level up my front-end game before next year!

This is a good example of why I yell at people for sharing poll results as screenshots/text without linking back to the actual poll toplines. It breaks the chain of information and makes it way easier for bad actors to thrive.
This ME-Sen poll and this account are fake. No such poll on Emerson Polling's website or X feed. And take a close look at the account's handle: @PoliticPollss when the real one it's impersonating is @Politics_Polls.

I just went on LinkedIn and immediately found a bunch of useful, interesting resources posted by thoughtful people. Should I buy a lottery ticket?

I'm proud of the knowledge I've cultivated in social science methods and more tech-y stuff. This combination also threatens to make me one of the most annoying people in the world
The superpower of books like Sapiens is that they require expertise in like 12 academic fields to debunk. So you get these super detailed takedowns of small sections that look to laypeople like nitpicking.

I used to go looking for The Discourse, gear up, and dive straight into the pit. Now even when I accidentally find The Discourse no I didn't

My favorite part about this is the camera work. Absolutely no idea where the ball is, like a guy with a flip phone trying to take a picture of Mars.
Shohei Ohtani this is just stupid...

Underrated skill alert
One of the most powerful skills you get with more and more experience is just understanding what you can ignore lol.

It’s made reading stats papers much easier 😂

Wondering how many data things *really* only have to happen once

Not because this has ever happened to me, no definitely not
look at me, running .onetimetask_download_responses(), again, months later

You might need to get in line, but hire @randyau.com

Also, Twitter and Bluesky helped me get every single job I've had since 2019. Being (perhaps too) online has been more professionally useful than I ever would have imagined
guess what, being VERY ONLINE is a great skill when shit goes down work-wise
