Politics, football, antifascism. I work for 38 Degrees. Trustee of Reprieve and IPPR. I liked Pope Francis.
Instead of engaging in a peaceful transfer of power, Trump rallied supporters on Inauguration Day, told them to “fight like hell” and then sat watching on TV saying and doing nothing while those supporters rioted their way into Congress. Some BBC goof up doesn’t change that.

You can’t cut child poverty without scrapping the two child benefit limit, and you can’t be a Labour government if you preside over rising child poverty. Me for @labourlist.bsky.social on the route to getting done what Labour must get done. labourlist.org/2025/11/gord...

Higher taxes on the wealthy, especially via closing loopholes, is very popular in itself. Using the money to fund public services even more so. Labour made an election promise to ensure “those with the broadest shoulders” paid their fair share and won a mandate to do so.

Utterly despicable.
This Israeli government decision to host Tommy Robinson will widen the growing gulf between the Netanyahu government and the British public, including the broad majority of Jews in Britain (3/4 of whom dsapproved of Netanyahu, before this new link to this anti-Muslim racist UK far right convict).

Standing with my Jewish neighbours in the rain close to Heaton Park Shul. Antisemitism has been on the rise. When I go to Mass, there’s no security on the door. My kids don’t have drills to prepare for a possible attack. We can’t defeat hate with more hate, only with love, togetherness and action.

We got a leaflet about a local redevelopment. One of the benefits listed in this message to local residents, is a “delivering a net gain in biodiversity”. Who signs this stuff off ffs.

We've just published a new MRP with @survation.bsky.social. LBC has the key pieces from the poll in their write-up here.

This poll has Reform short of a majority, and their lead is driven by anger about the cost of living more than affection for Farage.

We've just sent new polling to MPs. I wrote it up here, but the TL;DR is: opposition to scrapping the two-child benefit cap has evaporated and has strong support with Labour voters, and voters back higher taxes on gambling companies to help kids in need. www.linkedin.com/pulse/ready-...

Deputy leadership candidates who get 80 MP nominations are not “on the ballot paper”. That will only happen if they go on to get three affiliates (two of which are unions) or 5% of CLP nominations. *Then* they’d be on the ballot paper.
