If the British government, and indeed other governments, can’t muster a fast and strong response to Twitter adding a facility enabling users to create and share AI child sexual abuse material then not sure what Musk could ever do that would actually provoke a response.

We had one kid vaccinated for chickenpox (when we lived in the US) and one kid who wasn’t (after we moved to the UK) and the different parenting experience when each had chickenpox was *extremely* stark. This is a good decision. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

My favourite books this year
There’s more to life than books you know, but not much more. I’ve tended to shy away from doing book lists in case I look like Chris Finch from 'The Office' boasting, "I read a book a week, me".

“Tax. The. Rich.” The message from our new polling out today on the front page of the Daily Mirror.

Avoiding austerity & helping people with the cost of living isn’t free. Voters are ready for some tax rises - but only if the wealthy pay their fair share.

Instead of engaging in a peaceful transfer of power, Trump rallied supporters on Inauguration Day, told them to “fight like hell” and then sat watching on TV saying and doing nothing while those supporters rioted their way into Congress. Some BBC goof up doesn’t change that.

Higher taxes on the wealthy, especially via closing loopholes, is very popular in itself. Using the money to fund public services even more so. Labour made an election promise to ensure “those with the broadest shoulders” paid their fair share and won a mandate to do so.
