I was reading about a psychological study done on Nazi-era Germans. It tried to find out what kind of person is silent during the rise of authoritarianism. And they determined that the way they parented their children did it. Punishing any challenges to authority, etc. creates submissive citizens.

learned that last bit the hard way. don’t be like me.
I’m a very principled person but my morals are fluid based upon the context. For example, I think killing an innocent person unprovoked is wrong but I’m not against the act of killing if the situation calls for it. Rigid morals are a sure fire way to become a victim.
