Fresno -> Baltimore. Writing center coordinator. Wife guy. JD Vance thinks I'm his enemy for some reason? Used to write about Mountain West football. Enjoys Mexican food, reading, hiking, playing pool, tasty beverages, and baseball.

To borrow from Anne Lamott, here's my "shitty first draft" of a Bluesky starter pack for writing center folks. No clue how many other interested parties are out there, but let me know if you'd like to be added because I'd love for this to be representative of the field!

The internet's pal @kevinmkruse.bsky.social said a thing the other day that got me thinking about the dissembling rhetoric of white flight being ripped out of GOP discourse at about the same rate that an adult reasoning capacity is being stripped from Trump's brain and how shitty reality is for it.

You ever think about how Judge Doom putting that squeaky red shoe into the Dip is actually a pretty horrifying scene to weave into what's ostensibly a kid's movie?

The American president is a racist.
Trump: "It’s a hellhole right now. And those Somalians should be out of here. They've destroyed our country. And all they do is complain, complain, complain. You have her. She’s always talking about the Constitution provides me with – go back to your own country and figure out your constitution."

In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, it seems appropriate to donate five bucks for the courtesy of having an honest-to-goodness physical newspaper that I can get on my own street. We need clear-eyed local media these days.

Has Mark Kelly heard of the "everyone is 12 now" theory?
Kelly: He runs around on stage talking about lethality and the warrior ethos.. That’s not the message that should be coming from the Secretary of Defense… He runs around on a stage like he’s a 12 year old playing army. It’s embarrassing.

Booooooooooooooooo
Boise State will host UNLV for the Mountain West title this Friday in Boise. New Mexico, SDSU, BSU and UNLV all finished with 6-2 records in MWC play. The tie was broken by a composite average of nationally recognized metrics: Connelly SP+, ESPN SOR, KPI and SportSource rankings.

So Fresno State ends year one of the Matt Entz era with eight wins and a bowl bid. Not bad overall. In retrospect, though, kinda weird the 'Dogs got smoked at home by Colorado State. Imagine what this team could look like in the renewed Pac-12 with an actual quarterback.

With the regular season’s scheduled games now over, here are the Mountain West’s final standings. The conference championship matchup for a four-way tie goes to an average of four computer metrics systems that won’t be unveiled until Sunday morning.

If you're going to blow up conferences only to change the rules in the new expanded ones when the results become inconvenient to the desired narrative, then what was the point of conference realignment?
This might be an unpopular take ... but if I'm the ACC and Cal upsets SMU, I override the tiebreakers and put Miami in the ACC championship game against Virginia.
