Calling it now: Alito’s adm stay in the Texas Racial Gerrymander case is him retaliating against Ketanji Brown Jackson’s stay in the SNAP case.

He’s so bitchy.

Chuck Schumer Helps Pull Democrats Back From Brink Of Courage

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

Doesn’t matter if he votes no. He was *grinning* about a deal an hour ago. HE MUST RESIGN.
If Schumer is voting no, then who put this deal together?

So, listen, call Schumer’s office no matter where you live, no matter if you’re registered to vote. Leave a voicemail that says if Senate Dems cave without an ACA premiums fix, you will never vote for or donate to another Senate Democrat as long as he is Leader

ngl I was pissed to hear SCOTUS granted a stay, but as always @stevevladeck.bsky.social has the insight needed to understand the quick maneuvering of Justice Jackson. & why it's probably best she acted!
If you’re trying to catch up on what went down with #SNAP late last night at #SCOTUS, here’s my attempt to read the breadcrumbs on the “administrative stay” issued by Justice Jackson—and why a justice so critical of the Court’s grants of emergency relief to Trump still granted temporary relief here:

Trying to figure out what #SCOTUS just did with #SNAP, and why Justice Jackson temporarily froze the district court's ruling?

Via "One First," me on what's going on—and why I think Jackson's move was savvy, notwithstanding the awful circumstances that forced it:

Personally I think the 45,000 ft² option is closest to what he's planning. The model that keeps popping up has the ballroom extend almost to the split in the road in the south lawn oval. 45k fits best with what I know so far.

Here is a visualization of the actual land footprint of Trump's White House ballroom... It includes a flat 90,000 ft², a "two story" 45,000 ft², and a 25,000 ft² footprint (because that's what the news keeps mentioning)

I have the KML I can share if anyone wants it.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

Steve is turning out excellent breakdowns week after week. This one is on another level...

How the Trump admin is trying to play SCOTUS as fools.
(No Paywall)
The Trump administration's latest application for emergency relief from #SCOTUS (on foreign aid impoundment) rests on a contrived procedural emergency and a forfeited substantive claim—apparently banking on the view that the justices don't mind being played.

Of course Trump thinks doing away with the east wing is acceptable. His wife has no desire to work in Washington... So fuck any future First-Spouses, right?

Man I hate this guy.

Trump said the project would be “his gift to the country,” funded by himself and **private donations**

No way in hell Trump ponies up the $200M. He's laundering political favor for cash. 100% it will end up in the hands of his friends and family. Art of the grift!
