Caw, caw! One of my proudest accomplishments as a writer was 'To Make the Devil's Blood Run Cold,' a story that twisted Romeo & Juliet into something alltogether nastier and darker. It's now been compiled in this anthology along with other dark stories. Order below!

I can't tag him b/c he's not on here, but of course Clay Higgens would be the only 'no' vote to release the pedo-files. I can only imagine his Louisiana constituency will eagerly re-elect him.

Last night I watched a fun movie called The Atomic Submarine (1958). It included underwater UFOs and tentacle eye monsters. They clearly used toy submarines and clay models.

It was better than any movie made with AI. The creative spirit was alive and shining in that movie in a way AI never can.

OTOH, I’m glad it’s not just me. On the other, we really need to do better. I’ve noticed a decline not only in proofing but in the general quality of writing the last 5 years, as well as a decline in our collective ability to analyze art. We can and should hold ourselves to higher standards.

This is so very sad, but what a long and fruitful life. Tatsuya Nakadai was one of my first introductions into Japanese cinema with his performance in Kwaidan. Do yourself a favor and go watch one of his movies (Kurosawa's Ran, Yojimbo, Sanjuro for starters). Such a talent!

Deleting my dating apps so I can meet my soulmate the old fashioned way:

Traipsing through the bowels of my fiancé's brother's lab tower until I happen upon a patchwork creature pure of heart who puts into words the oddity of my own existence 🖤

If you want or need some good news today, SCOTUS just denied review of Kim Davis's attempt to overturn Obergefell. For now, marriage equality remains out of danger. Thank fuck.

Something wonderful happened tonight in Minneapolis: Soren Stevenson just won a seat on the city council. In 2020, he protested George Floyd’s murder and lost an eye to police violence. He put his life on the line, and gave part of himself for the city and civil rights. He’s a real one.

Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is a masterpiece. It’s cold, creepy, and absolutely human. So much of the humanity of Mary Shelley’s novel has been lost with big Hollywood adaptations, but del Toro gets Shelley in a way few others have. He and Frankenstein were made for each other.

That was one of the finest adaptations of a Stephen King novel ever made. Misery, The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption, and Carrie have a new member of the S-tier. Also holy shit on the ending. They stayed close to the material but threw constant readers for a spin with that.
The Long Walk was one of the first Stephen King books I read, somtime in the seventh grade. I'e waited ages for an adaptation to come and now it's tiiiimeeee. Let's see how this movie goes.

I wish Mariam Demello was on bsky so I could ask why she thinks emphasizing 'moderate democrat' in a political environment where anyone on the left is called a terrorist is okay. Weird look. Anyway, @jamisonwhiting.bsky.social is by far the best candidate for Ward 11 so be sure to vote for him!
