One thing I do love about the south is our more tropical flowers. Below are the banana flower (pink) and the gorgeous ginger lilies, which remind me of Marilyn Monroe’s fluttering white dress. Their smell is divine. Sweet, creamy, a little fruity, not unlike jasmine or gardenia, but stronger.

You ever see a movie where every single frame is just gorgeous art? This is Not a Burial, It’s a Resurrection (2019, Lesotho, dir. Lemohang J. Mosese) might be one of the most beautiful movies I’ve seen. Haunting, powerful, and anti-colonialist. Well-worth your time. I mean just look at the poster.

I found the perfect Covid recovery movie. Low budget? Check. Nonsense plot? Check. Deep love for the horror genre? Check and check.

Bone Sickness (2004) has it all: necro-junkies, confusing dialogue, party city zombies, goblins, and all the blood fountains you’ll ever need. No brains required!

I'll add 'brainstorming' to the things OP talks about. If you need GenAI to write, you have no business writing.

Hey #writers and #authors here's a PSA: what we aren't gonna do is turn current human tragedy into a meet-cute for a romance novel. Imagine seeing the horrific human rights abuses unfolding and going "yup, this is something I can monetize."

If you're taken into custody at a protest (not actually arrested) and you have a backpack where you have padlocked it shut, can law enforcement legally force it open? Here’s a Friday flower pic! Peony season is one of my favorites. These flowers (and they who plant them) confer a gift for humans and pollinators alike. In the face of a capitalistic society, here is something that gives simply by existing. Maybe that’s a bit tree hugger of me 😅 ah well.
A pink peony. The petals do not radiate in an organized pattern, but rather, they frill and furl and curl in every which direction, with the petal tips lightening to almost white and the deeper parts of the petals becoming a more vibrant, almost bubblegum pink

Spring has sprung, and it’s time for warm weather food. This is a pasta salad with a lemon-maple dressing. Perfect for late afternoon dinners after walks through the neighborhood (ingredients in alt text)

I moderated the Wheel of Time as Horror panel, and my panelists were the best! Sarah Nakamura, the brilliant story consultant, Author Ola Hill, author extraordinaire, and Rey Nichols, also author extraordinaire! Their insight and vibrant energy made this such a fun panel.
