My article 'Impotence and Incompetence: Edward Krasiński’s Art and Writing' is out in Oxford Art Journal!
Come for Krasiński, stay for Białoszewski and Gombrowicz.
This has been years in the making, but I had so much fun with it.
It's open access!

Shabana Mahmood's Indefinite Leave To Remain Culture War

3 years - if you're earning £125k+

15 years - if you're e.g. a nurse, or a teacher

Labour's two tier system which rewards high earners and insults those who work just as hard but don't earn as much - really sad to see Labour fall

Could argue the misogyny Summers expressed both publicly while president of Harvard and in emails to Epstein says more about the culture at our most elite institutions than any of the frontpage freakouts over academia in the past few years but hey

I predicted this. So did lots of other people who paid the tiniest amount of attention. Weird how none of them have jobs explaining politics to the public, and it's all these people performing uncomprehension and amazement for the camera instead.

How are refugees meant to ‘integrate’, learn English etc. if you’re actively preventing them from leaving their accommodation and working legally, and refusing to create any sense of future security? I mean seriously; how much more stupid can this whole thing get.

I also haven't been able to get this bizarre quote out of my head. "If you don't like this, you won't like what follows me."

I know what she means to say but it's phrased like an admission that they know this will just bring on Reform but they're going to do it anyway. Paging Dr Freud!

This contribution to the volume of human misery is yet another policy from Labour based on a false premise, in this case that refugees are overly attracted to Britain. It will increase bureaucratic limbo, thus making worse the problem of "cohesion" it purports to solve.
