Lots of people with money who want to make more are telling you this is a tool you have to learn or you'll be Left Behind but as with all tools, you can use your own brain and experience to decide if it's a thing that helps you do your job better and a thing you think is ethical.

Panicking about math, reading, and science scores while diverting resources to "AI in schools" is nonsensical, but here we are.

The declines in scores began a decade ago with the influx of devices and edtech software into K-12 schools.

It's not the only factor, but it is important.

It's the first Nation's Report Card since the Trump administration began making cuts to the U.S. Education Department. The scores reflect the state of student achievement in early 2024.

ChatGPT is telling people to kill themselves. ChatGPT is an OpenAI product. @rweingarten.bsky.social is working with OpenAI to push ChatGPT into schools. If I'm wrong about any of these facts, please correct me. If I am right, we all deserve some real answers.

So, if humanities produce good job outcomes, humanities have a secure ROI that bring in more than they cost, and STEM now has an even lower ROI due to grant cuts…. shouldn’t we invest more in humanities where less $$ goes a longer way? Apparently not. We should ask why not. /9
