I wish posts about Ukrainian art drew as much attention as the war.

Still, I keep showing you beauty.

Wild how many in the humanities teach entire courses on power, resistance, and decolonization… until it’s Gaza. Then it’s suddenly “complicated.”

If you were outraged by the crimes against civilians on Oct 7th but not by the many more crimes against civilians *since* Oct 7th - just this week: kids being burned from head to toe; having their limbs amputated without anesthetic - then you don’t actually care about crimes against civilians.

There was a girl on a romance novel reader forum who was like "I read 300 books this year but I only read the dialogue"

And at first I was a bit appalled but then I was like "wait. Why don't we suggest comics to these people!?!??!"

There are a lot of repulsive people in public life, but Elon really takes the cake man. He is so repellant that I feel nauseous when I think about him. He’s the kind of guy who makes it harder for every other man on earth, he’s that ugly of a human being on every level

Did Trump just accidentally reveal the true death toll in Gaza? This deficit would indicate that Israel has slaughtered at least 500,000 Palestinians in this genocide.

In October, 99 American doctors and nurses who worked in Gaza said the number was "greater than 118,908."

“Elon Musk Has Plunged America Into a Constitutional Crisis. He Must Be Stopped.”

Powerful and much-needed appraisal from Will Stancil of the meaning of, and fallout from, this weekend’s takeover of the Treasury and USAID by Musk and his minions.
Elon Musk Has Plunged America Into a Constitutional Crisis. He Must Be Stopped.

I always thought Elon Musk was the most dangerous man in America but I viewed him as a danger primarily in terms of his wealth and his disinformation power. I didn't realize he would pose an actual threat to our form of government, our national security, and our most sensitive personal data.
Sheesh.

I think it important to grapple right up front with the reality of what happens within institutions under authoritarian dictatorship regimes. Sure, there are those that fight the good fight and continue to try to do good. There are also going to be people working right alongside who...do not.

Welcome to the next four years. Republicans do horribly rightwing things to hurt people and move the Overton window even further right, while rightwing Democrats say 'Hey, can you let us join in and do it in a bipartisan fashion'.

Kill me now.
13 Democratic senators, led by Mark Kelly, write a letter asking John Thune and Republicans to work with them on an immigration bill instead of doing it on party lines through reconciliation.
