As state lawmakers head into the final days of budget negotiations, New York is facing crises on multiple fronts.

But what's really important to Governor Kathy Hochul as we approach the April 1 budget deadline? A statewide mask ban.

Why? What the hell?

Governor Hochul Wants to Jam Through a Mask Ban. Why?
Because apparently we don't have more important issues to deal with, and other links to start your Tuesday.

this is fascinating: the iphone's gorilla glass screen becomes eco-friendly window glass
Thanks to Steve Jobs and Gorilla Glass, factories in America are now ramping up to make affordable windows, made from panes thinner than a credit card, that can:

* save Americans $25 billion / year

* withstand a 2x4 shot out of a cannon

A Piece of Glass Thinner Than a Credit Card Could Solve America’s $25 Billion Energy Problem
New windows can insulate better than most walls, and some can even survive being hit with a two-by-four shot from a cannon.

This is the wildest story I have literally ever read. In any normal circumstances, a half-dozen senior officials would be forced to resign over this—starting with the National Security Advisor. And I doubt anyone will face any accountability at all.
In 25 years of covering national security, I’ve never seen a story like this: Senior Trump officials discussed planning for the U.S. attack on Yemen in a Signal group--and inadvertently added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

These people are clearly not up for the job.
American war planning usually takes place in highly secure facilities. But the Trump administration planned its strikes on the Houthis using a group chat—and accidentally included The Atlantic’s editor in chief, @jeffreygoldberg.bsky.social. theatln.tc/AmsjsuT6

Zero harm and ample upside in Democrats calling for impeachments and a special prosecutor. The VP, the Secretaries of State, Defense, and Treasury, the DNI, and the NSC were all involved in the grossly negligent disclosure of specifics on combat operations.
18 U.S.C. § 793(f) makes it a federal crime to for people entrusted with information related to the national defense to, with gross negligence, disclose it to others in violation of that trust.

You are calling for the Trump admin to investigate itself?

No, they should do what you should do: resign
Amateur behavior.

This kind of security breach is how people get killed.
How our enemies take advantage.
How our national security falls into danger.

These people are clearly not up for the job.

We need a full investigation into how this happened and the damage it created.

My only very slight errata here is to amplify what's contained in "discovery". It's not just FOIA. It's what happens when that intelligence officer reviews the discussions and realizes, "They just treasoned. I think I have to report this." Trump already had that happen.

Moving a detainee around to evade judicial review is classic authoritarian behavior.
The government claims Mahmoud Khalil was already in NJ on his way to Louisiana by the time his habeas petition was filed—an argument that the NY federal court lacks jurisdiction.

But Khalil's lawyer checked the ICE locator when she filed and even 4 hrs after, and he was listed as still being in NY.

Again, non-Jews have given themselves the right to define who is a Jew. This is still antisemitism.

The dominant form of pro-Israel politics in the US today is Christian Zionism, and it is antisemitic to the core.

And to be Palestinian here is to be the untermensch. We are seen as subhuman.

Bill Gates is not one of the good ones. There are no good billionaires. Billionaires should not exist. Tax all of their wealth away.
So he clearly 100% did not believe in the inherent worth of any of it at all, it was always an act, zero genuine moral investment, dropped it to comply in advance, good to know, good to know
