If you're in or around Stockton on Tees next week, I'm introducing a screening of Ellis Park, Justin Kurzel's stunning documentary about Bad Seed, composer and conservationist, Warren Ellis.
We Will Doc You: Ellis Park (15) - ARC | Stockton Arts Centre
A key member of iconic bands The Dirty Three and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, multi-instrumentalist Warren Ellis has cut a brilliant and unorthodox figure in music for over three decades. Far from the...

For fucks sake, no part of a cow or pig is called a burger or sausage, it's a shape. Desperate attempts from animal farmers to damage vegetarian food sales.
What's next Cadbury's not being able to sell chocolate fingers because that's what Captain Birdseye sells fish as?

I wouldn't have given Tom Cruise his Oscar at some sort adjunct, untelevised ceremony. I would have put it in a high-tech vault in the middle of the stage and challenged him to steal it during the live broadcast.

I never got to see my Grandad sell papers cos he'd retired and shut the shop not long after I was born. Delighted to find this candid shot of him selling papers on or around Princes Street. Probably covering either his brother Tommy or his brother Forbes' stall one busy day.

Finally caught up with I Swear, which is as empathetic, moving and funny as everyone's told you it is. Had a few issues with the ending, and some very specific, very Scottish quibbles. (Scotrail from Galashiels to Nottingham?!)

'Lionesses in Winter' is my favourite of the Thirteenth Doctor Big Finishes so far. The royal family at Christmas set-up is a hoot, there's genuine pathos and Jodie Whittaker is clearly having a ball. Her and Mandip Gill get some genuinely wonderful moments of charm.
