Nature, climate and gardens.
Inspired by @themarshtit.bsky.social's The Meaning of Geese, I bought an old bike to explore the countryside around Kinver. Today I managed to get out on it proper for a spot of biking birding. Species heard or seen included:

Song Thrush
Blackcap
Chiffchaff
Whitethroat
Yellowhammer
Swallow

Not a bad morning's birding in the frost. A Kestrel and a pair of Peregrines. The Peregrines are overwintering birds but the Kes is a resident. #lowcarbonbirding #birds #birding

Winter birds are certainly turning up now. Two Redpolls and a Blackcap in the garden today, along with a Song Thrush.

Where have all the Cinnabar Moths gone? I haven't seen any in Stourbridge for about three years. Ragwort plants are all empty of the yellow and black larvae. Suspect this species is in real trouble.

If you turn your garden into a haven for wildlife, it's guaranteed to be frequented by creatures great and small. Here are some of the amazing animals that have visited us in the last year.

Never noticed these before, the tiny flowers on Hazel trees, until they were mentioned on Countryfile last week. This is on our Cob tree. Stunning aren't they?

Today, the #UK announced to quit the #EnergyCharterTreaty

ECT = tool for the fossil fuel industry to sue govs for #climate action.

Its been the world’s most litigated investment agreement. It's awful. To leave it is the only sensible step.
