Next year, I'll be doing a research project, funded by the Barts Charity together with Barts and the London at Queen Mary University, investigating predictors of treatment response to rTMS in treatment-resistant depression using EEG.

We have a new preprint out, with Teresa Schuhmann, Alex Sack and Catherine Tallon-Baudry.
I think our findings give some interesting leads on the various mechanisms underlying visceral influences on the motor system and how we conceptualize interoception as a whole.

Supramodal and modality-specific neural information supports multi-feature prediction errors across cortical levels
Abstract. Predictive coding posits that the brain actively anticipates inputs from different senses, generating prediction errors when incoming information deviates from internal expectations. While m...

misogynists in science are not a rarity i feel. "Dr lastname and Maria" (I have a PhD), whenever I run an analysis and seek insights from people not directly in my lab, I get "Is it the first time you are doing this analysis?" (just for saying "We ran a connectivity analysis using this and that").
Bluetorial-Jim Watson
I met Jim Watson a few times but did not know him well. However, I was greatly influenced by his book “The Double Helix”. He was a complicated human being with some very, very bad features, but some good contributions.
What follows is my personal perspective.

So gimme those drugs.
So gimme those drugs.
ADHD increases dementia risk, but the available epidemiological data suggests that stimulant medications may normalize risk. Totally fascinating

do I know anyone with insight into the MRC experimental medicine grant process? we received the reviews and two were good (6,5) and two were bad (3,3). i can write a rebuttal to the bad ones relatively easily, but I am wondering, since the competition is fierce, whether there is any point?
