whereas if they receive a diagnosis of treatment-resistant depression or something else, they do not improve...this would also mean that if you drop the diagnosis (stigmatised as it is), patients would not get the right therapy, and not the chance to be symptom-free or have a symptom reduction

super interesting, thank you! It seems like a contested diagnosis, e.g. @suzypuss.bsky.social argued once that BPD belongs in the bin. it seems like there are therapies which work specifically for this condition and patients do get better eventually

it then turns out they actually have a personality pathology (say, BPD, or avoidant personality). why wouldn't the psychotherapy also have helped for that, afaik there is only therapy for personality pathologies?

it makes sense for ADHD and bipolar where there are actually meds that work. but if someone comes to you for treatment-resistant depression (i guess this means that meds and counselling failed to help),

yes please <3 I'm also wondering how to figure out which women's organisations include nonbinary people who experience misogyny, and what they do about it exactly! I see only Women in Neuroscience state it explicitly, but i'm also not sure how it translates into action

IMPORTANT: We're building a database of existing studies on the topic from next year, any leads for data are very welcome.

This is an ongoing project by Nikolina Jovanovic, Valdas Noreika in collaboration with Nao Tsuchiya I had the fortunate opportunity to join. If anyone in the field wants to connect, feel free to message me.

I can also fulfill requests for a coffee/chat with anyone who would like to either join my effort or learn how to improve their organisation's access for nonbinary people in London and close-by (Kent, Brighton, Cambridge etc), feel free to tag people who might be interested!

not sure whether this all makes sense but if anyone has any leads let me know! co-authors are also welcome (whether nonbinary or not).

(2) to flag nonbinary people's work (in my field and adjacent fields where I know people) so nonbinary-inclusive organisations (or organisations which want to be) know who to contact when looking for speakers (if anyone wants to be out that is)

after the miniarticle, what I would then do is (1) put together a little presentation chatting about bias against nonbinary people in neuroscience and how to be more nonbinary inclusive to any organisation which is interested in addressing gender disparities and removing barriers for nonbinary folx

i was wondering whether there are any organisations which are explicitly nonbinary-inclusive, and whether organisations have policies on the topic, so i could make a point this is actually something organisations consider important. it can also be a local university network

if possible I'd like to say somewhere in my miniarticle that there are women's organisations in STEM who are also interested in gender disparities affecting other genders, and that this is not just us inserting ourselves where we should not be.

I understand it's politically difficult but even more crucial to step up for nonbinary people now that there is a climate of concern

inspired by the Women in Neuroscience awards on Friday (which are nonbinary-inclusive, and the only explicitly nonbinary-inclusive women's organisation I am aware of), I wrote an initial post on linkedin (now deleted) which triggered comments including from someone from GB news.
