I really liked the piece about coaching for teachers- sometimes you just need a thought partner.
Child care centers often reject kids with disabilities. Some states are tackling the problem by strengthening child care teachers’ knowledge and confidence in working with young children with disabilities and developmental delays.

I have no doubt that this program creates a solid pipeline of talent, but I question the strategic planning related to funding and positions 4 years down the road. There will be plenty of need for gen ed teachers, but how can Newark guarantee placement of more specialized certifications?
In a robust pipeline program, high schoolers take education-related dual-enrollment courses, shadow staff, & work in classrooms. When they graduate college, they get jobs, & kids get teachers who understand their lived experience. @eheubeck.bsky.social for @edweek.org www.edweek.org/teaching-lea...

Well done! I agree with many of the points this scholar makes.
COMMENTARY: Artificial intelligence isn’t ruining education; it’s exposing what’s already broken. High school student William Liang says: "AI is built to answer prompts. So is homework. Of course students are cheating."

COMMENTARY: Artificial intelligence isn’t ruining education; it’s exposing what’s already broken
Schools have responded to AI with policies that assume students are curious and self-directed learners. They’re not. They’re tired, strategic, and trying to survive.

Good action steps here!
"Sold a Story" hasn't just prompted reflection—it's inspired action.

In this piece for @the74.bsky.social, Ashton Venters, president-elect of TRL North Carolina, shares the 10 steps she recommends to improve reading instruction.

“Listening is just the beginning. Change comes next,” she says.
Ten Things I’m Doing After Listening to Sold a Story
Venters: Schools and educators need to rethink the way they teach reading and emphasize decoding, professional development and support for parents.

I won’t share RFK Jr.’s lies about autism.

It’s disgusting and dangerous.

If he had a shred of decency, he would apologize and resign.

Autistic people contribute every day to our nation’s greatness.

To every kid with autism, I’m in this fight all the way for you.

Planning, preparing for, and reflecting on are separate but equal parts of masterful lesson delivery that increase student achievement. Makes sense then, that if little to no time is allotted, little to no increase is found.
OPINION: In Los Angeles Unified, the second-largest school district in the nation, elementary teachers have only 27 minutes of prep time — a staggering 20 minutes less than the national average of 47 minutes, which is still too little. This gap isn’t just a statistic; it’s a crisis.

All this fuss about something we know to be true: Maslow before Bloom. Even more interesting? Not once in any of this media coverage has anyone mentioned student achievement.

As I understand it: States and districts looking for evidence about X relied on Company E that was looking for evidence about Y but who claimed they were looking for evidence about X. Company E widely aknowledged despite incorrect/undesirable reporting.

Post-pandemic classroom discussions require more preparation from professors. "It's not enough to just sort of ask a question and say, 'well, what do y'all think,'" explains Kevin Gannon.
