So. What do you teach students in a writing class when the censorship nets are closing in on us? When language is doing the flips we read about in 1984? When nobody can predict what the fall semester curriculum will look like? Asking for a friend.

Well, I made it through the day pretty well. Discussed our new ICE protocols in my classes- whew -but we moved on. A good day. I thought I'd brushed off today's 1,000 paper cuts. But when I got home, my mood started swinging between rage and sadness. And then I realized: this is grief. I'm grieving.

These foxes were abandoned as pups and then nursed back to health by this Irishman. And even though they were free to return to the wild, they decided to stay with him - forever.

This is a constitutional crisis: the President doesn't have the power to cancel funds appropriated by Congress. Also, the math is insane; there is NO way to cut $4B/day by getting rid of "fraud". Cuts of that magnitude will dangerously undermine the core functions of government.
