The responses to this tweet do a phenomenal job elucidating my point.
The reason Bernie Sanders isn’t POTUS is the same reason he was on a podcast with a bigot:

He can’t acknowledge that a politic that calls all oppression classism denies the ways some folks suffering under the weight of classism will willingly oppress others when given the opportunity.

one thing I find americans have that is quite different from everyone else is how normal they take it that a whole political party just does and says evil things all day every day.

Now he wants to make the federal workers who oversee the distribution and implementation of grants political appointees. Grants are given at the behest of Congress and often span across administrations. This would be yet another death knell for federal grants
This is a really big deal and if you’re a member of the American public you should submit a comment saying it’s important not to implement this new plan because an independent civil service is essential in a democracy. ww2.aip.org/fyi/opm-adva...

Stop calling it deporting, so MAYBE more Americans will get it. "Deporting" is sending someone back, after due process, to the country they came from, where they arrive a free person. This is human trafficking to a foreign torture prison for the rest of their lives. GET THE LANGUAGE RIGHT.

It works. The government here largely works. Because we are so spoiled by how well it works, we are letting a fool convince us it is broken.
In 90 years of social security, we have never had a check bounce or be late, but they want you to believe the system is broken.

Not for nothing, but how, exactly, is it legal to send people for *punishment* in a foreign prison (esp with no due process)? Were the funds being used for it appropriated for this purpose? I feel this has just become a thing no one questions

One thing life gave me is resilience.

Resilience is, far and away, the single greatest factor to anything good that I have in my life.

Someone recently asked me what I want for the kids in my life. It’s this. Resilience. Because life ain’t fair & you gotta live it anyway.

Billionaires raked in record profits under Biden, but pushed hard for Trump—now they’ve lost billions.

Here’s why they wanted Trump:

📌Tax cuts & deregulation

📌Worker exploitation

📌Keep the poor desperate

📌Racism as a weapon

📌Favor authoritarian control

They wanted domination, not just profit.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Seems to me what we’re seeing across the federal government are the dividends being paid from years of adopting market language to talk about public goods. Run government like a business? Businesses exist to make profit. Government exists to serve the people. We’re about to see the difference now.
