For decades the BBC recorded perfect audio using lapel (lavaliere) mics in interview settings. Film makers recorded perfect audio with a single boom mic. Why do podcasters need such utterly ridiculous huge mics for each person? Is it a dick measuring contest?

Have to disagree with the second half of this. First half - let's make something like best Twitter absolutely yes. Second half nothing to do with "I don't have the energy for that" and much more "wouldn't it be nice if our social media spot of choice wasn't a fascist sewer"
our collective mission statement on Bluesky is “can we just have it like Twitter was about ten years ago? That was lovely back then. Because this new stuff they are doing everywhere else is a bit much and I don’t really have the energy for that”. And I’m sorry to say, this is old person behavior
