I made this back in November 2024. It is my first gourd creation. It is special to me, because I used pine needles from a tree that was cut down on my father-in-law's property in preparation for water/sewer pipes.

The calabash, or bottle gourd, is a symbol of good luck & longevity in China. It was associated with Li Tieguai, one of the Eight Immortals, who carries one containing medicine that can cure any illness. Doctors also used to carry medicine inside dried gourds. #MythologyMonday
