I once got fooled by Heinz "chili sauce," which has even more sugar in it than their ketchup (and no kind of chili in it).
I would like to state that… restaurants should not try to make their version of ketchup. Heinz got that good good. Unless you got that recipe on lock? It’s just sad tomato soup.

Got out of my social media bubble and heard people being unhappy about Katie Wilson being elected to mayor. All male business owners, who I expect grousing from in any shakeup, but I was a little disappointed. I can't help but hear some sexism in the description of her as inexperienced.

I actually saw Wag the Dog when it came out in a theater and didn't like it much. But I was like 15 so probably a lot of it was lost on me.

Got a copy of Go Dog Go, which I apparently loved as a little kid, and holy heck it's just awful. Let's hope Viv doesn't like it as much as I did.

It's tempting to think that the US is a uniquely degenerate, evil country, but that seems wrong and facile to me.
A lot of it comes down to familiarity, but I also think we aren't as good at rationalizing our flaws as older countries are.

Just realized I've never seen a recipe for chayote squash, nor have I ever seen it used in a dish at a restaurant. I don't love squash, so I'm not dying to try it, but I feel like it's kind of weird that it's such an ignored ingredient.
