This is so important. You would not have got much sense of this from BBC reporting of the verdict yesterday. A democracy that runs on the basis that if you can get voters to vote for you you don't need to obey the law is not going to fare well (looking at you, USA).
Quick reminder: Le Pen wasn't found guilty because the French courts hate democracy. She was found guilty because she broke the fucking law.
