Small sample size. That was a single HR. Lots of other similar hits wouldn't have cleared those other 24 stadiums.

Ya nerd.
Also in this game: Romy Gonzalez hit a home run to left center at Yankee Stadium, a famously deep part of a very famous park. The home run traveled 384 feet. John Smoltz, lead baseball analyst for FOX, guessed it would've only been a HR in 5 stadiums. The correct answer was: 29 stadiums.

Every time I walk past a bank, I face an ethical question. Should I just rob it? It's a stumper.
When Meta started developing its flagship AI model, employees faced an ethical question, Alex Reisner writes. The program would need to be trained on a huge amount of high-quality writing to be competitive with products such as ChatGPT. Should they just pirate it?

I don't teach in a law school, but I make similar points to students all the time who are interested in med school, grad school, etc. It's not that grades DON'T matter, but they're also definitely not the most important measure over time.
My annual email to my first-year law students about taking their grades seriously—but not *too* seriously:

My relationship with Big wasn’t the only thing I blew up that day. At the Trinity test site I detonated the first plutonium bomb, unleashing a 22 kiloton blast. Had I become Death, destroyer of worlds? Meanwhile uptown, Samantha had her hands full with her own “Manhattan project”

if this ever happens to you, the best thing to do is to reply-all with "please do not send any more emails" so that everyone knows not to send them. in order to make sure everyone sees this message you may need to re-send it every three to five minutes
A student somehow accidentally emailed the entire NYU faculty and the reply-all carnage is like a freeway pile-up

GMC Hummers sliding through the snow

BK Have It Your Way (Not holiday-related, I just assume the people who made those ads will soon be sent to prison)

For years and years my grandma in Chicago thought I was 30 minutes ahead of her while I was at Michigan State.

In this period she did not own the Cubs and/or the White Sox, though I can't truly say if their performance would have been better or worse if she had.
one of the many joys of being a sports fan is rubbernecking at stories like this that you get at a regular drip that establish team owners as some of the most incompetent people ever born. i always think back to marge schott owning an mlb team for many years and not knowing about time zones

It's taken me a lot of years, but I've come around to this: If you're dumb, surround yourself with smart people. If you're smart, surround yourself with smart people who disagree with you.
