Re-watching Mute for current project and I think its main problem is that it isn't really Leo's story, it's Cactus Bill's. If Leo had been cut altogether and everything had been refocused around Bill, I wouldn't be writing about it in a book on vocal disorder but it would be a better film.

In Scottish Gaelic, gorm means both green and blue depending on the context and it seems from watching Real Real Japan that this is true in Japanese as well. Does anyone know why?

Just in case anyone was (foolishly) feeling all caught up on their reading lists, here's 100 books by small publishers including stuff from @tenebrouspress.bsky.social and @psychopomp.com
100 Notable Small Press Books of 2025
The idea of 100 Notable Small Press Books was born November 2024, after The New York Times’s annual 100 Notable Books list featured eighty-two books from the Big Five publishing houses (Pengu…

On my way to Dundee to participate in Wet Tec. This is a technology/arts event series and none of the Cronenbergesque things envisioned by my guttermind.

A weird question for my current project: Does anyone know of writers who are mute? Helen Keller and Jean-Dominique Bauby are the only ones I can find and neither is really what I'm looking for, as both had other intersecting disabilities too.

One of my students got me polvoron as a graduation day present and I'm already stressing about what I'm going to do when the box runs out. Have never had them before this, anyone know where I can buy them in the UK?!

* ANNOUNCING *

Wild Hunt Books are seeking short stories in Jan 2026 for our upcoming anthology, Modern Decadent, which embraces the fin de siècle literary & arts of the decadents, along with 19th century symbolism and aestheticism. We also welcome stories with a good dash of proto-Weird 🖤

Watched the Until Dawn movie. It's fine, nothing great, nothing egregious either but does make me wonder what reviewers who said "it's nothing to do with the game" were talking about. It's literally the story of the game from a different (admittedly weird, somewhat nonsensical) POV.
