This season has been stunning, has to be among the very best spoken word content I've listened to this year. Russian Communists and the Labour Party, so much I now understand that I hadn't grasped before, obsessively researched and presented in an engaging style.

Japan's "Mundane Halloween" costume contest is back!

Each year website DailyPortalZ holds a contest where people dress up as something super duper ordinary.

Here's a thread of some of my favorites from the 2025 contest!

Journalists, broadcasters, fans - stop relying on ESPNcricinfo for women's cricket balls faced records, especially slow-scoring stats.

Their database is woefully incomplete for pre-2000s women's cricket (this also applies ot Cricbuzz who have just replicated the same incomplete scorecards).

I've enjoyed listening back to you and Ed on commentary on Saturday @mrscricket.bsky.social - thanks for the name checks for Chris and me. And apologies for not realising for the 1st 10 overs that the score was unreadable on the smaller board.

I recall this view in September 1985 too @yelobeli.bsky.social @sidspid.bsky.social
A picture I took from the back of the Free Seats (now the Compton Stand) at Lord's in September 1985 showing the letterbox view. The set-up also meant even on a hot day that area could be chilly, and the walkway behind was narrow and noisy. All round, not a great spot to be

Just one statistic from @gloscricket.bsky.social women's match against Sussex on Thursday: Meg Ahearne made her new highest score for the county of 31*. Mention for Becca Halliday who took a catch in the women's game and - on the other side of the boundary - in the following men's game too.

Regular reminder to fans, media, broadcasters & historians - you can't blindly rely on ESPNcricinfo's records for women's international or domestic cricket to be complete or accurate.

There are numerous gaps in their database. Also potentially, a huge gap in the market.
