All shares of this much-appreciated. Sorry if it's boring. Just another instance of me attempting to rehabilitate one of my books after my ex-publisher Unbound failed to pay me a large chunk of earnings from it, went into administration and took it temporarily out of print.
I'm giving away two signed copies of my (recently republished) book 21st-Century Yokel, with two postcards of this fab otters linocut by my mum, Jo.

Just repost this & pop a comment below to enter.

Art review!
This time we''ll be looking at 'De boerendans' (the farmer's or peasant's dance) by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, from c. 1567.
I love Pieter's art & of course I love art that depicts an era generally still considered to be bland, dark & horrid, as also being a bit fun.

Sand batteries are literally just silos of sand that retain heat exceptionally well -- so well that they can be tied to heat exchange systems to serve as proxy *electrical* batteries. Finland's new model can store enough power (100 MWh) to heat an entire town for a week.

Dogs shouldn't be on nature reserves at all.
The clue's in the name.
They have the scent of a top predator and they scent mark with urine like a top predator.
A sheep killed at our Pegsdon reserve is one of a string of dog attacks on livestock, people & wildlife on our sites this year. Dogs must be on leads on nature reserves all year round. Warning this article contains an image some people may find upsetting.

Who/Whom

If you can answer the question with "him" then you use ‘whom.’ --> they both end in ‘m’.

If you can answer the question with “he,” use ‘who.’

-Whom are you going to the concert with?
-I'm going with him.

-Who broke the toaster?
-He did.

Fascinating: Did you know that the Sun's energy output per cubic meter is only about the same as that of a compost heap? ☀️🍂

About 277 watts per m3

(277 watts per m3 doesn't seem very impressive. But the sheer volume of the Sun generates an immense output.)

Did you hear about the time David Goodhart went to a bus stop to find someone of a different ethnicity so he could try out a joke? He waited for ages and then three turned up at once! Thank you, thank you. Anyhow, just as he was telling them his joke, an out-of-service bus arrived. No one got it.
Among the many oddities is this paragraph. If you try and “share a joke” with a stranger at a bus stop, then *you* are the person who has failed to even remotely integrate into London life. It’s the first rule anyone learns.
