This is the worst time in human history to dismiss science. We’re on the cusps of some of the biggest discoveries ever known to human kind. If anything, we need more scientists, not less.

"You have made me feel like I do not belong in science & I cannot forgive you for that."

BRAVO to this student. While I am so disappointed we are still navigating misoogyny in our educational and professional spaces, I am so grateful we have a generation who name it so clearly and capably.
A friend included this anti-acknowledgement section on her PhD thesis. She also added the proposition: “Systematic bullying and undermining of girls and women in STEM starts early on and is the reason why they do not stay in science and related fields.”
Absurd we still need to go through this

On MLK, Jr. Day, let’s remember that it is supposed to be a day of service. Doesn’t have to be something monumental. Do one small thing today to help others. Imagine just how great it would be if everyone did just that for one day.

If I had to recommend 3 things to writers (at all levels), I would start with these 3 (with options for adding more):

1. Be persistent.
2. Be curious about the world, people, history, everything. Expand your horizons. Curiosity is your soil, your ocean, your rock, your air.
3. Never stop learning.
