I note that the site says that, while there is no pay, there may be reimbursement for travel and subsistence. I also note with interest that there seems to be no requirement that a magistrate be British, or reside in Britain. Am I on to something?
One thing to know about Magistrates is that the qualifications for becoming one are: 1) be aged between 18-74, 2) be literate, and 3) be ‘of good character’ (no previous convictions or bankruptcy)

Can't believe they're going to end trial by jury. It's one of our most fundamental rights. Literally Magna Carta stuff.

I have experienced multiple earthquakes, but this video of a strike slip earthquake in Myanmar on March 28 triggering a surface rupture and a large and dramatic horizontal displacement—the first ever caught on camera—is astonishing.

Keep your eyes on the right third of the screen, beyond the gate.

Link is in the quoted thread, but I’ll repost. This is David McSwayne’s article for ProPublica about how Dr. Thomas C. Weiner engaged in conduct that harmed or killed patients while working at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, MT, and probably also did a lot of fraud www.propublica.org/article/thom...
A Hospital Helped a Beloved Doctor’s Practice Flourish Even as It Suspected He Was Hurting Patients
Hailed as a savior upon his arrival in Helena, Dr. Thomas C. Weiner became a favorite of patients and his hospital’s highest earner. As the myth surrounding the high-profile oncologist grew, so did th...

So many things end up just being Reagan’s fault.
1. The conventional explanation for food deserts—that these places are too poor or too rural to generate enough spending on groceries, or too Black to overcome racist corporate redlining — fail to grapple with a key fact: food deserts didn’t used to exist. My new piece in The Atlantic.
