Hey-it's BandCamp Friday, when creators receive more funds from their sales on the BandCamp platform!
Many of these jokes are better recorded on my bread album but there’s also stuff that’s nowhere but this thing.

People ask me why I watch bad-looking movies blind.
These people don't know the magic of stumbling into a movie that, just 15 minutes in, has a slow rap explaining what's already happened with flashbacks to earlier parts of the movie

"I gave up trying to understand human behavior years ago. That's why I'm a physicist."

- Irwin 1138 from Josh Kirby… Time Warrior: The Human Pets

This isn't a good movie, but man did that one line clock me.

Just discovered that John Astin and George Clooney are in Return of the Killer Tomatoes, and I feel like society has been holding out on me.

Seeing a picture of @pattonoswalt.bsky.social in his role as Doug in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds really reminds me of Harvey Korman's character Krelman in the musical number with Bea Arthur from the Star Wars Holiday Special (which, to be clear, is a segment I enjoy).

Maybe its the brown outfits?

At its core, such a great service. But really want to see a little more effort given to it
Nintendo is currently at 33 games added to Nintendo Classics in 2025. They were at 49 games at this point in 2024, and 52 in 2023. There are definitely some systems they are leaving behind.

GameCube: 21 days
SNES: 42 days
GBA: 63 days
N64: 78 days
Game Boy: 182 days
Genesis: 224 days
NES: 343 days

Really confused about why I'm getting ads for joanns fabrics right now as i thought that was already through the "going out of business" thing months ago.

I don't get how so many organizations seem to simultaneously have extensive training about things like phishing to make sure data stays secure and also contract services that have been tacking on AI services that will read and process the content of things like emails no matter what

Decided to watch Felidae last night, and I think this movie is going to keep haunting my mind for the next few days.
"Neo-noir but animated cats" is a heck of a pitch, but the themes here were way more intense than I was expecting.
German w/ subtitles probably added to that.

Having finally seen it, I get why people felt misled by the title Halloween III: Season of the Witch.
I watched the whole thing last night, and despite my expectations not once did I see a pair of Teutonic Knights played by Nic Cage and Ron Perlman.

Pulled out an old Halloween costume of mine to take in for work. Glad to work somewhere where i can wear such a deep-cut 🔭 astronomy-themed costume.

(I'll add the explanation as a comment, but the close-up photo has the closest trying to a hint here)

Nothing more handy than a movie podcast that provides a link to watch the movie they talked about.

And weirdly satisfying to see the "witch's" house and recognize that I've been in it (pretty sure it's the Beckett Residence). It's a cool house that keeps popping up in my life choices.

As much as I like it and the Queen Mary as a venue, nothing sums up the Dark Harbor experience quite like a story about walking into the event and immediately seeing a bar.

There's something I appreciate about watching stuff set and shot in Los Angeles. It allows for those moments like "sure, they're supposed to be trying to get from Hollywood to downtown, but that's the 91 between Marina del Ray and the 405 that they're on right now"

I've been pitching a biopic of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz.
I keep getting feedback that some of the plot points are derivative, but I think they're integral

I know I've gone sufficiently far into the depths of Tubi when I'm watching a movie I've never heard of then realize that the "notice me Senpai" satanist is in it (I think the internet's proper term for him is 'weird satanist guy')

We've wrapped up season 3 of The Old SwichAroo podcast

These season finales are a lot of work, but worth it for the fun of getting to bring back so many of our season guests in one go. And both seasons we've done this I've been very blown away by the creativity people can pack when quizzing us
In the newest episode of The Old SwitchAroo, we're celebrating the end of season 3 by looking at the highs and lows of this season's games and playing a trivia game featuring this season's guests.

Was on the theme park podcast Wild Mouse to talk about Knott's Scary Farm and my favorite time of year in theme parks with the world of haunts. And Knott's really is one of the best.

I choose to interpret the bottom image as artist's interpretation of the skeletons of me, Donald, and Panchito
New episode! @lowbacca.bsky.social of @theoldswitcharoo.bsky.social returns to discuss ghosts, goblins, ghouls, and other things that go bump in the night at Knott's Scary Farm!

I like to think that I was ahead of the curve when it came to putting questionable requests for unfettered telescope time on ArXiv:

So it's interesting to see the rest of the field catching up.

This week (!) is the 30th anniversary of the announcement of 51 Pegasi b, the first exoplanet found orbiting a star like our Sun - since then, we've found over 6,000!

To celebrate, @alexwitze.bsky.social and @nature.com collected some astronomers' favourite planets:

At a comedy show called popular kids club. And the stamp to verify they checked my ticket says "I'm a popular kid".
It took four attempts to get that stamp to work on me and not sure if that's the stamp rejecting me or my skin rejecting social status.
Could be either, really.
