I forget about travel adapters too often and keep ending up needing to buy them

That video essay context to it does tempt me to rewatch it from that lens (and then maybe follow it up with Los Angeles Plays Itself again)

It feels like a "you only get to do this if you're Orson Welles" thing.

I have such complicated feelings on F for Fake. Especially as I went into that with no real info about it.

Imo, their best-by date is whenever they were last cucumbers

One of my top films of all time, and I think it's also easier to justify (potentially) as I just think it looks beautiful. It was also, I think, the last thing I saw in theatre before COVID.

For 4K, I'd still need to upgrade the rest of my setup for that to be worth it... which I haven't done

Yeah, even with me trying to work through a massive backlog on physical media, I keep watching stuff on Tubi instead (knowing it may go away soon)

If you haven't watched it yet, I would encourage moving Kwaidan up your list if you have that one; great commentaries (it's #90 I think)

And with Criterion, it's not even just a backlog of movies, but a backlog of really good special features, too.

(I'm also backlogged on my much smaller Criterion collection, but trying to work through all the extras when I do)

Jealous of that collection, and the space for that collection.

And what a topic.
I was one of the first people I knew to visit it in Florida in 2010, and my report back to my fellow So Cal theme park fan friends was that Universal was making Disney look the way Disney makes Knotts look.

Movies that I contend are (sometimes technically) Christmas movies and have just enough of an atypical angle to warrant mention: Night of the Comet, The Curse of the Cat People, Blood Beat, Cash on Demand.
Trapped in Paradise for something that feels a bit more conventionally Christmas

Thank you for my fav comedy routine about video games (and also still being my primary source for what the Final Fantasy games are about)

I work more lines from that album into conversation (or at least paraphrases) than i feel like is appreciated by anyone i ever talk to. I think that's a them problem.

Societally, i think kids may actually be essentially lojacked now with modern tech. So that album is ahead of the curve

I enjoy the handful of times where I've had copyright warnings on YouTube for music from Nintendo games, but the copyright claim is from some band in the last 5 years, who apparently also used the music and now someone's claiming it based on them using something that wasn't theirs.

I'm not sure I'd say favorite, quite, but certainly cursed makes me think of Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny, which i presume you are familiar with (as it has an mst3k episode)

Oh, and unironic enjoyment of the star wars holiday special, though I consider that Thanksgiving. It's a complicated appeal

I hold that the goodness of a pie is inversely proportional to the size of the fruit, roughly (though with key lime ranking like a much smaller fruit)

If I was going to blame an area code, I'd have guessed 661. But there's a shared history there.
