I’m a fat, queer artist based in western North Carolina. I love mountains and waterfalls. I make quilts, knit sweaters & shawls, and weave tapestries. I make art on paper with graphite, colored pencils, and watercolors.
Yes! I am solidly in my “weird little drawings” era and I’m loving every fucking minute
I think most artists hit a point where they’re like, well if I can’t be the best artist, I shall be the most ME artist.

💯
This is correct. Examples:

Good good coffee: Kicking Horse, Dirty Girl
Good bad coffee: Most diners, McDonald's
Bad good coffee: Starbucks, most hipster places that look down on drip
Bad bad coffee: Taco Bell (most non-McDs fast food really), the Hotcake House by Milwaukie and Powell in Portland.
So @caseyplett.com has this theory that there are four quadrants of coffee: "good good coffee"; "bad good coffee"; good bad coffee" and "bad bad coffee" and idk if this is true but it is def true of red Bordeaux

Successfully got my Covid vax today! My doc had to write me an Rx, which he faxed to the pharmacy, then I made an appt online. All good, but then found out my insurance company would not cover it?!? Luckily I was able to pay the $194(😳) out of pocket. Will file an insurance appeal tomorrow

I had the hot air balloon one! And I didn’t take any notes during my first class of 7th grade (geometry) because I was nervous to make so much noise with the velcro

Eagerly awaiting the horror movie adaptation of this book, starring Julia Roberts
look, clearly the cut has perfected running a certain style of self-aggrandizing, faux-searching but ultimately breezily exculpatory personal essay but oh my god www.thecut.com/article/eliz...

There was a team trivia event today at work. Organizers used AI to generate questions AND answers. Many answers were pure hallucination. Tempers flared when correct answers were marked as wrong. Organizer doubled down and asked AI “is ___ a good answer for ___” and was surprised by weird results

Wholeheartedly agree! Please don’t make me comfort you while I’m trying to receive a compliment
please don't drag yourself down when you want to compliment someone's art (or anything, really!). saying "this is so cool" is way better than "this is so cool, i could never do this :("

it really doesn't make praise better, quite the opposite!

Hey ding-dongs, let’s have a chit-chat about 'Ablaut reduplication.'

If you have three words, the order usually goes 'I-A-O.'
-tic-tac-toe

If there are only two words, ‘I’ is the first and the second is either ‘A’ or ‘O.’

My employer’s new “Head of AI” just introduced himself to the company with an AI-generated illustration of himself in Studio Ghibli style. Shouldn’t an industry leader be familiar with how outspoken Miyazaki is against generative AI???

At the cafe. Tried to purchase the last cookie but the lady in front of me had ordered it, they just hadn’t bagged it yet. No worries, just the latte please. Unbeknownst to me, she asked them to cut it and plate up half for me, then slid the plate onto my table as she sailed out the door. Magician.

I just want to make little drawings, knit things, play with my cat, eat pastries, sew quilts, look at the mountains, tend to my flower garden…isn’t that enough?

Still thinking about the rose bushes perfuming the air as I walked into (and out of) the doctor’s office yesterday. They were like an additional threshold, a curtain of fragrance, easing the transition between spaces
