We need to go further. Current aviation levels are far from compatible with our Paris temperature & equity commitments. The CCC envisage little change from today ‘compensated’ by a future stufffed full of speculative (at scale) negative emission technologies (~58MtCO2 worth by 2050 & lots of 🤞🤞🤞).
Any politician who says that Heathrow Airport expansion is compatible with the UK's obligations as set out in the 2008 Climate Change Act & the 2015 Paris Agreement is (pick at least one:
1️⃣ ignorant
2️⃣ deluded
3️⃣ lying

It looks like this was part of France being involved in the Lebanon ceasefire. This would mean that Palestinian lives were exchanged for Lebanese lives. As someone who’s both, I’m just disgusted and horrified - then again, this is what’s considered normal in politics these days.
