His biographies of Jacques Tati & Georges Perec are outstanding. Two of my heroes.

Excellent blog about a great novelist who was at the forefront of Virago’s rediscovery of women writers fifty years ago but now almost qualifies as ‘neglected’ again.
Rosamond Lehmann is like a difficult friend, alarming and annoying, who occasionally redeems herself by not minding being teased, and suddenly roaring with laughter at it all…And you can forgive her almost anything because of the very best of her writing.

Roman d’une drôlerie délectable, traduit en français sous le titre « Cette sacrée vertu » (10/18).
I’ve written a few thoughts on Miss Pettigrew Lives for a day by Winifred Watson, 1938, a delightful book I’ve been meaning to read for ages about a governess who finds herself in some tricky situations! 💙📚 #BookSky #Braille

Tune of the day…Kenny Garrett - Giant Steps. One of the craziest versions of Coltrane’s classic ever conceived. Reducing each melody note and chord to 1 beat (the last one is 2)25 beats grouped in measures of 4/3/4/3 3/3/3/2 8 bars with just 4 tonal centers for soloing. #jazzsky youtu.be/DRUbrZYueIw

Chaînon manquant. J’apprends que Dorothy Richardson a pratiqué le monologue intérieur dans son cycle romanesque Pilgrimage, après Édouard Dujardin mais avant James Joyce et Virginia Woolf.
The first folks to buy a set of the new US edition of Dorothy Richardson's Pilgrimage are starting to get their copies, and it's sort of amazing to see them in the wild. I have a set in front of me right now and I can hardly believe it.

@neglectedbooks.com #Pilgrimage2026 #DorothyRichardson I read Pilgrimage with Brad and his gang several years ago and loved the deep dive into women’s lives of the early last century. I can’t wait to read again with these glorious new editions.

'Running the Bath.' (1895) Ramón Casas was a leading Spanish avant-garde painter. This picture, with its subtle graduations of colour and suffused light, is reminiscent of the introverted 'symphonies' of Whistler and the muted interiors of Vilhelm Hammershøi.

Seems like a good time to post some of Marco Borggreve’s album cover photos. He has over a thousand album credits in Discogs.

Really good classical music photography is hard; let’s see how Borggreve does.

A good start with this Stravinsky album from 1992.
