I will say this. If Mike Johnson keeps the House in recess to prevent the release of the Epstein files, this compromise gambit may pay off in the short term, since it makes crystal clear who is responsible for the continuing shutdown. But I’m deeply skeptical that happens.

This is important. This is happening in a great American city. This is why we fight. #NoKings
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

@schumer.senate.gov @durbin.senate.gov @shaheen.senate.gov this is what you just rewarded with your betrayal of the American people. Impunity for the autocrat. You bent the knee and showed you are on the side of the King. You disgust me. And I am not alone. #NoKings

Betrayed. That’s what we’re getting. A knife in the back.
An agreement to agree to do a later vote is NOT an enforceable contract so what in the actual hell are Americans getting out of this deal??

@schumer.senate.gov @kirstengillibrand.bsky.social get your colleagues to fight for us! Stop this terrible deal!
Should be pretty clear that without House commitment on a vote on ACA extensions, it is purely symbolic as part of the Senate deal
Q: Will you assure House Democrats they'll get a vote on ACA subsidies by a date certain?

MIKE JOHNSON: Ah -- no. I'm not promising anyone anything.

I don’t think the Senators contemplating this deal grasp how furious Democratic voters are at the possibility of Democrats rolling over. I hope they are tarred and feathered and driven from town on the back of a mule, as is the custom.
November 10, 2025 at 1:41 AM
@kirstengillibrand.bsky.social if you are not caving to Trump and leaving millions without insurance, I want to hear it. As your constituent I need to know you are working your colleagues to prevent a terrible deal. If you don’t, we (your voters) will make sure you never serve in Congress again.

I’m sure my furious emails and voicemails to Sens. Schumer and Gillibrand opposing a terrible compromise appropriations bill will break through all the noise . . .

I didn’t catch the game tonight, but I heard Trump did color commentary and if the @nflbluesky.bsky.social thinks that’s ok then I may need to start calling soccer football and cheering a new sport. Keep Trump out of my sports.
If we got rid of Dan Snyder only to have this jackass insert himself into Washington football . . . well at least we got rid of Dan Snyder. We’ll get rid of Donny soon enough. #HTTC

Yes. If ICE/DHS won’t take off their masks voluntarily, we need to make them. And if they are ashamed or afraid of being identified, they can find a job that doesn’t involve tearing apart families. Or they could have found new jobs if they hadn’t voted for a president intent on tanking the economy.
I’ve come to believe that we need to gather considerable forces and a campaign to demand the removal of face masks by ICE, Border Patrol, FBI and police.

It is a practice in conflict with the principles of transparency & accountability that are central to the concept of democracy.

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

ICE is inflicting a lifetime of trauma on families. And it’s being carried out in the name of the United States of America.

I am deeply ashamed of what our government is doing in our name. The only thing that keeps me from despairing is righteous fury. And I am so proud of the Americans in heavily impacted areas who are pushing back with non-violent protest and mutual aid. No justice, no peace.
ICE agents in Chicago violently detain a non verbal autistic man for being “non compliant”

He couldn’t “comply” because of his disability…they don’t care

This is not the first time they’ve gone after a disabled person

They target the most vulnerable because it’s an easy way to meet their quota

I'm hard-pressed to think of a non-Jewish Democratic politician who has spoken to Jews with more respect and empathy than Mamdani. The fact that many Jewish establishment orgs are going after him while staying relatively mum on resurgent Nazism is a disaster, both for American Jews and in general.
