NY is going to get slammed by the premium hikes. I think she sees the writing on the wall.

Imagine saying this as the largest city in the state you represent is under siege by a paramilitary force endorsed by the very people you are caving to. While people brace for massive health insurance cost increases in Illinois, one of the blue states hardest hit by expiration of subsidies.

I’ve agreed that in an ideal world, people would have better diet and exercise habits, but we don’t live in that world. So what are you arguing with me about if not to prevent people from using life-extending, life-improving drugs? And these drugs absolutely do make people healthier.

How many of these bank CEO’s have analysts who continue to issue “Buy” ratings and grossly inflated target prices for AI and AI-adjacent companies?

All of them. They make the bubble and they decide when to pop it.

It’s another way to sell candy bars at outrageously inflated prices. I’ve had it (and I’ve made a few myself based on recipes online - see my photo) and was mostly unimpressed. Some people love it.

The Germans definitely know. I was struck by the inscription on the Neue Wache, a former guardhouse that is now effectively Germany’s “Tomb of the Unknown Soldier”:

There is a frog! And a T-Rex! Also fairly low-key.

I happen to be in Berlin and I’m planning to hit a rally at the US embassy here. Came prepared with the shirt—too bad I couldn’t find one in German!

Grimace is famously made of the same stuff as Sno Ball snack cakes, i.e. an unstable mix of marshmallow and anti-marshmallow. If you bite into him, you run the risk of either having a delightful taste of marshmallow/coconut or destroying the known universe.

NYT implies GOP members of Congress will suffer politically when their constituents lose their health insurance, but the GOP districts identified as most impacted in this article are also in deeply gerrymandered states where members of Congress are mostly insulated from any threat to their seats.

TIL about the “Parole in Place” program and I am that much sadder about the state of our country for it. Compelling military service to prevent a parent’s deportation? Generational servitude is not a good thing. Just let them stay.

In the NY Times funhouse world, a future Democratic administration prosecuting Trump administration officials for their open crimes is part of a “cycle of retaliation.” Complete lunacy. They’ve lost the thread.
