RIP. My late brother gave me Still Life with Woodpecker at 16. He said I was finally old enough to understand it. That and Jitterbug Perfume are two of my favorite books ever.
RIP Tom Robbins. I was introduced to his novels when I was kind of lost in my early 20s and I read them all in quick succession. Maybe they don’t hold up as you get older but he’s one of those writers you discover at a particular time in life and sticks with you.

Genuinely insane that a major newsroom isn't running a live post today trying to verify what is and what isn't being impacted by the federal funding freeze. Embarrassing how bad the media response is to this.
Based on the frantic questions I've googled recently — "how do executive orders works," "can gay marriage be repealed," "what is the Office of Personnel Management," "do food stamps still work," — only to find nothing from media outlets, I'm ready to say the mainstream media is in serious trouble.
