Federal spending is *up* under Trump according to the Wall Street Journal. Chaos is not actually the same as cost savings.

Actual budgeting is a kind of actual policy-making and takes real work spread over real time. Running around breaking stuff isn't that.

If you’re continuously stunned by the behavior of gerrymandered GOP representatives in the world of Citizens United, don’t be.

Here’s how to think of them:

They are no longer public servants.

Improving public outcomes is not their goal. Nor do they do better in life…

Guess it’s time to update my AP Government slides on Congress and the filibuster 🤗. So impressed with @booker.senate.gov and the stand that he is taking. We have more work to do, but we can do it.

As a high school government teacher…yes!
All else aside, a real live standing talking filibuster is the sort of thing high school social studies teachers live for.

@booker.senate.gov talking about Alice Paul 18+ hours into this filibuster is warming my cynical government teacher heart right now!!

Wow! The #UglyDogs are amazing!
The #igivearod2025 totals are in! This drive in honor of Quince Mountain's #Iditarod run brought in a record $138,646, breaking the previous 2019 record of $127,500. This brings the sum total of all #igivearod drives to an amazing $525,720 to support Alaska school projects and organizations.

I gave to this one as well #UglyDogs The parachute is so much fun—and such a great way to develop gross motor skills for kids! #igivearod
Hey #UglyDogs as of right now, there are 5 campaigns up on Donors Choose. The total to finish off these 5 is $2,486. They are all good, but here’s my favorite.
I loved the parachute when I was a kid.

This whole list identifies so well the issues with the ITC—many of which would not be difficult to fix if the CEO and the ITC actually wanted to
#uglydogs
So, here is my list of issues with the Iditarod, or more precisely the ITC. It's actually a short list in some ways because everything comes down to accountability and transparency. They do their level best not to have either of those things about any decision the ITC makes about the race. 1/

One thing is clear after watching that disaster of a meeting - jd vance is a repulsive, obnoxious, whiny, sneering little suck-up. An absolutely nasty, unpleasant and utterly unlikable freak. He literally makes everything worse.

Many Medicaid recipients do not know they receive it because Medicaid is called different things in different states. The public narrative of Medicaid focuses on a distant other, but 40% of US children and 60% of nursing home residents receive Medicaid. Just SOME of the names by state are below:

Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania has indirect rate of 70%, but they probably didn’t want to list that atop Harvard because defunding a children’s hospital might be perceived as problematic.

This is devastating
These overhead rates are negotiated. Lowering it unilaterally to 15% is another way to destroy science in the US. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

Given how many NCAA Gymnastics meets are covered on @espn.com networks, it’d be really cool if I could follow #NCAAgym scores and results on the ESPN app like I do for other sports.

In its simplest terms, the apparent demise of #USAID is the result of the world's richest man ending a program that helps millions of poor people. You don't need a Ph.D. in moral theology to see why this is an evil. You can just read Jesus's parables on the rich and the poor.

Vance’s view is basically the direct opposite of what Jesus says in the parable of the Good Samaritan and elsewhere.
I mean yes, there is such a concept in Christianity. It appears quite notably in the letters of Paul, for instance, where it’s a concept he *relentlessly* argues against, and in the Gospel where it’s a concept Jesus very much repeatedly scorns. So it is technically in there!
