My brain has the capacity for so much nuance that it's getting in the way of having good relationships with some of my Jewish friends. They can't seem to grasp the idea that BB has leaned into the negative AS tropes (ie controlling everything) by pumping money into US politics through AIPAC.

Starbucks unions are practicing picketing as the company abuses its workers and denies them a fair contract.

This is your reminder to not cross a picket line and support workers!

NO CONTRACT, NO COFFEE.

On the last day of Pride Month, have you thought of him since? Spoke his name? Carried Heyoka?

Or have you forgotten him, forgotten us, already? Again?

Until you try to remember, you will never break free of your binds here.
Wrote this piece for Harpers Bazaar about the life, legacy, and hate-induced murder of Jonathan Joss through the eyes of being a Two-Spirit Native person this Pride.

I hope you take a read. For Him. For all of us. 🪶
We All Need to Be Talking About the Murder of Jonathan Joss This Pride and Beyond
The actor, who was Comanche and White Mountain Apache, was shot in a targeted hate crime while protecting his husband.

Proud of my people today.
BREAKING: The scene at the Rayburn Building is pure rebellion. Protesters are swarming in during live hearings on Medicaid cuts.

Security’s losing control. Because when the government wages war on the poor, the poor fight back.

Got caught committing flower crimes this morning. Legit thought house was empty (condemned notice) & beautiful irises were going to waste. Resident is elderly & mobility impaired. Is a thank you/apology card enough? I feel super guilty, even though there were plenty left in the bed.

I try to live this. It may be a function of my autism, or growing up in a very diverse military community, but I have never understood racism (as a personal value). I am appalled every day at the microaggressions I see in person and online. I try every day to make things in my world more equitable.
when Black people are telling white people about racism, it's not to villainize them. it's to speak with historical and moral clarity. So that they can look around and say “oh my god, i can't believe what my ancestors and my people continue to do. this ends now, and it stops with me.”

To be effective, our opposition to today's abuses must run alongside a clear picture of what we are actually for - and how everyday life could be better with different leadership.

This is so silly, up to and including the fact that this celebration of moveable type is printed from a gigantic woodblock (which also recreates the hand-drawn decorated letters). Technology is recursive! Periodization is fake!
Just in case if you missed this printing event in #Mainz: they publically printed a giant page of the Gutenberg bible in the format 5 x 7,20 meter. #bookhistory #skystorians

If you think an autistic person is "dense" because they asked you clarifying questions, I hate to break it to you, but they needed to ask follow up questions because you didn't explain yourself well enough. Not because they have comprehension issues.

Hope that helps 🙃

Did you know library workers are an oathsworn profession? The ideals are lofty: protecting intellectual freedom, equal access, without exercising our personal judgment on materials.

That all goes to pieces without funding. They’re going to be paring back. Expect to see “refocusing”. Back to books!
Again, the first impacted are always people who need anything outside the “norm”, and that realistically means access suffers and diversity in materials suffers.

This sucks and you should be furious, if not on your behalf, then the families’ who rely on the library to procure things they can’t.

maybe my favourite etymology: the phrase “curry favour” originates from a medieval french morality poem about a conniving horse named fauvel who amasses a following of sycophantic humans to groom and tend to him.

over time, “currying fauvel” eventually became “currying favour.”

If you're trying to build a resistance movement, shaming people into participating (esp people who are already struggling with food/shelter/health) by saying, "you would if you really wanted to," is a dick move. And just because you're disabled, Karen, doesn't mean you can't be an ableist asshole.
