When I said on the podcast that the HRM was not a free/independent democracy and was instead a vassal government for Tim Houston, I thought it was mostly a joke due to the threat of Bill 24. Solidarity is the way. I don't really bike but if I don't fight for bike lanes, and the mayor gets his way, what happens when he wants to cut the next thing, and the next thing after that? If you give in on one fight you're signalling you will cave on any fight. Resistance means standing together.
Some of these councillors may vote against Fillmore’s motion because they are very pro-transit. Perhaps they’re wondering if the mayor will put a stop to transit projects next.
Specifically, residents of districts 1, 3, 11, 12, 14, 15, and 16 These are the likely swing votes. If you live in those districts, it is doubly important that you write/call your councillor. They are the likely swing votes. Tell your neighbors, organize, tell more neighbors to write more emails.
