The announced minimum wage increase for 2026 doesn’t go far enough. The Nova Scotia government has announced that minimum wage workers will be paid an extra 50 cents an hour in 2026. While the increase is critical, it falls significantly short of what workers need to survive. The minimum wage increase doesn’t adequately account for the rising cost of rent and food and leaves the minimum wage $10.60/hour short of the $27.60/hour workers need to make ends meet.
