After learning about how inaccurate nutritional posts on social media can be, I'm going to look for sources and citations from now on. This will allow me to do my own digging and determine whether I can trust that nutritional post or not! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

After reading about Tom's amazing weight loss story with his daily Chic-fil-A diet, I'm reminded of how important motivation is in dieting! The diet to choose is the one that will keep you invested in the foods, rather than simply picking out the "healthier" option. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Banning food dies isn't the answer! If US states really want to combat the obesity epidemic, they need to focus on getting more nutrient dense foods on the shelf while also educating the public on what ingredients to watch out for! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
West Virginia is second-to-last on the healthiest states list.

Banning Froot Loops ought to take care of it.

But seriously: I don't care if you want to ban food dyes, but focusing on them and other non-issues makes it easy to ignore the real health problems.

I had no idea how closely linked obesity is to poverty! It's important for both myself and others to remember that obesity is not just from overeating, but is a complex issue that is caused through several factors such as education, income, food availability, and more! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

A common barrier to making healthier food choices is lack of time to plan, shop, cook healthy foods. I can really relate to this because my schedule is filled with work, classes, homework, and working out! I usually end up to turning to fast food options for a quick fix! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I had no idea freezing fruits still preserves the vitamins and minerals inside them! I'll be sure to eat more frozen fruits, as this is a much more affordable option to ensure I'm still getting all of my daily vitamins! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I've also been hearing a lot about intermittent fasting lately too! I've been wondering if your body would go right back to what it was before, once you stop fasting. I would think so considering everyone's body has a "set point" that it tries to maintain. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
I'm interested in intermittent fasting (IF) because I've seen many people succeed with it. IF is a cycles between periods of eating and fasting, with 2 methods 16/8 and 5:2. I'm wondering how our body look like during fasting time. Will we be really feel exhausted or controllable? 🧐 #beh353

I had no idea fiber has such a major impact on the gut microbiome! This is important information that I wish the general public knew more about! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
A #high-fiber diet reduces harmful #bacteria in the gut and supports good gut bacteria, that produce beneficial compounds like short-chain fatty acids. Since most Americans don’t meet the daily #fiber recommendation of 30 grams, fiber is truly a nutrient of concern. www.healthday.com/health-news/...

This reminds us it's important to remember that macronutrients like fats and carbs are not the enemy! We need to encourage diets that prioritize eating a sufficient amount of fats and carbs, while limiting the "bad" ones like trans-fats and refined grains. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
