Every platform is compromised. Including this one.

Every platform is also a greenhouse for radicalism.

Analyzing operations & owners: helpful.

Shaming users: individualist bullshit.

Trust yourself to know where your communities are.

Don’t presume to tell others where their communities should be

There was an old tweet that stuck with me: "If you can easily walk to the coffee shop but your barista has a one hour commute, you don't live in a walkable 15 minute city; you live in a theme park"
as someone who lives nextdoor to both supportive housing and public housing, i need people to understand that the best locations for both are going to be the central neighborhoods in a metropolitan area, where there is easy and reliable access to services and jobs.

FDR once bragged to a massive crowd at Madison Square Garden that the richest people in the nation hated him and “I welcome their hatred.”

Just weeks later, he was re-elected with 61% of the vote in a 523-8 blowout in the Electoral College.

Voters *like* politicians who make the right enemies.
The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

once again I have to invoke the specter of Ronald Wilson Reagan, who is in Hell now. under Reagan, the term "government spending" was effectively demonized. fuck you, Reaganite ghouls! spending money, on its people and their needs, is the function of government! public works are good! say so!

Speaking as a rural Democrat, the strategists’ push to the move Dems to the center is ill-advised.

No one needs Republican lite when there’s a Republican already on the ballot.

If you are a cis person *please* take 2 minutes to do this. Trans people with non-updated gender markers, historical gender marker changes, and X markers are terrified to travel right now; rolling back this policy would mean a lot.
Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes.

You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment.

My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc.

"We need to use every tool we have to fight back."

Elizabeth Warren and I are not always aligned but it is ABSURD how much better she is at articulating what's happening — and with the anger it deserves — than Chuck Schumer, who seems like he couldn't give a shit.

63% of Americans support deporting undocumented immigrants so the NYT splashes this on the front page as a mandate to do just this. It becomes urgent—the will of the people. 71% of Americans support universal pre-K and 69% support Medicare For All but this mysteriously provides no such mandate.
