Jay, I don’t think the issue was isolated mistakes. Suspending journalists (or /anyone/) for simple insulting language doesn’t give me confidence in the moderation decisions of the site. Your dedicated mod team needs a serious change in perspective.

Walmart spent $35.3B on stock buybacks from 2019 to 2024, enough to give each of its 2.2M employees annual bonuses of $2,719.

Last year, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon pocketed $27.4M — 930x the company's median employee pay of just $29,469.

Textbook corporate greed.

Don’t you love how Trump claims (falsely to footnote) that other countries have released their violent criminals & mentally unstable & they illegally entered the US…But in reality he’s released violent criminals & thugs by the thousands from Jan.6. Trump projects and does what he accuses others of.

Interesting to watch the commentary on the mango Mussolini cheating at golf.

I'm reminded of what an investor told me once during the dot-com boom: "I take people out golfing so I can see what they're like; if they'll cheat at golf, they'll cheat in business."

If they were being honest, Texas leaders used to frown at Washington interfering in our decisions. Now the Governor is kissing the ring- it’s a sad day for local control and the people who deserve the FAIR chance to elect people of their choice! #nogerrymandering #resist
Coming to you live from the UofH Texas House congressional redistricting hearing with Congresswoman @jasmineforus.bsky.social! This fight isn’t easy, but the Congresswoman reminds us: if we don’t stand up, they’ll keep walking all over us.

I’ll be back with more updates.

Texas gerrymandering is about racism.

Fewer districts for Black and Brown communities. More power for white Texans. It’s voter suppression by design, and it fuels voter apathy by making people feel like their voices don’t matter. That’s the point.

Want to boost birth rates? Give people living wages, good healthcare, autonomy over their bodies, and a sense that the future isn't predestined to be some Mad Max shit.

People don't want to reproduce when you're actively making the world shitty and hopeless.

I want to take a moment to thank Drew for taking an interest in my work and putting together such an excellent profile.

Most of what I do focuses on highlighting prominent figures and their statements, so being the subject of a profile is a new experience—and a meaningful one.
New: Here's a chart of the top conservative / liberal accounts on X. See that small blue dot? That's @acyn.bsky.social. His fast-cut clips of political combat get hundreds of millions more views than major news sources - and basically no one knows who he is. So I profiled him. wapo.st/3RpEvJ7

US birth rate hits all-time low, as MAGA Republicans continue to wage war on women's bodies, civil rights, and human rights. Meanwhile the quality of men, especially those exposed to right-wing echo chambers, continues to decline, making reproduction less viable or sought after.

There are some valid reasons to grant 'proffer' immunity to an already-convicted person, e.g. to obtain information helpful to other prosecutions.

Doing it to try to absolve the President of his sex crimes while dangling a pardon for the convicted is not one of them.

The first rule of homelessness policy is that it must be cruel.

The second rule is that it must be expensive.

The current GOP idea is to move from "spend a lot so cops, paramedics, and ERs can shuffle them around" to "spend a lot to put them in jail."

God forbid we just provide basic shelter.
Again we see the incoherence of right-wing policy. Rounding up homeless people and imprisoning them *is* housing them! Punitive solutions to this problem also cost a shitload and require a massive bureaucracy.

They are fine with providing housing, but only if it is ineffective and dehumanizing.
This is the line of thinking. Prevent states and localities from being more protective of the unhoused than SCOTUS. Do it through financial coercion.
