Wow. The University of Chicago, a world-class institution whose humanities faculty in the past has included Homi Bhabha & Lauren Berlant & Ralph Ellison & Hannah freaking Arendt, is getting rid of basically every graduate department involving the acknowledgment that other cultures & languages exist.

“In the face of recent abrupt shifts in federal funding for education research, including large-scale terminations of National Science Foundation (NSF) research grant awards, we have developed a rapid response bridge grant opportunity for impacted scholars”
FYI: The Spencer Foundation, Kapor Foundation, The William T. Grant Foundation, and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation have collaborated to offer $25K rapid response grants.

"This rapid response bridge funding opportunity is for scholars and teams whose grants have recently been cancelled by NSF."

Here’s what I want from Dem leadership RIGHT NOW:

1. Say out loud you’re aware we’re in a Constitutional crisis — a state of the situation.

2. A system to triage Trump admin’s EOs, legislation, and actions.

3. A demonstrable effort to listen to your constituents.

4. Your action plan.

Jimmy Carter was right about climate change. He was right about the Mideast conflict and apartheid in Israel and South Africa and the ongoing plagues of poverty and racism. It was he not Reagan who freed our hostages in Iran. A true man of God, he died beloved, which not many presidents do or will.

Let me say this again: the AI my W. Indian student used to correct her syntax (Claude I think) also removed every mention of Franz Fanon from her work! I suspect this is because an engineer somewhere decided Fanon's ideas are controversial? WTF!

These are two amazing artists. The fact one of America's foremost modern Jewish chroniclers of the Holocaust is turning to Gaza should also not be lost on anyone
Maus author Art Spiegelman’s next comic will be about Gaza, in collaboration with Joe Sacco. He thinks he will struggle to find a publisher in the United States.

“I’ll finish this thing or die trying.”
Art Spiegelman Won’t Shrink Back From Controversy
The artist has illustrated more than one contentious New Yorker cover in his career, chronicled in a new film, and his next project will be no less gutsy.
