This is madness. Today we had to send a message to our 1L students telling them it’s not a great idea to use the first drafts of their first legal writing assignments because the new OCI timeline is so early they are wondering if they should. #LegalWriting

There is no way law firms know how to pick out talent this early. They’re just making mistakes.

At the Commencement for students graduating from University of Maryland School of Law I spent some time talking with law graduates about the significance of the oath they will take when they are admitted to the bar, and its importance to upholding the rule of law. Especially now.

From my experience teaching last semester - which was wonderful - I think there should be a thing where law schools get lawyers to come to campus just to talk about being a lawyer, one on one. You sit in an office, a student comes, and they ask you whatever the heck is bugging them about this job.
