Perennial - old but still blooming. Fighting ageism constantly.

Political junkie who has lived SK politics from Tommy Douglas to the present. Whatever happened to SW SK where we first established free medical care in the Swift Current Health Region?

Yesterday the President fell asleep, yet again, during a televised fake Cabinet meeting staged so that each of his courtiers could heap praise on him, praise for which he couldn't stay conscious. He woke up just long enough to spew racism. Why is this not being treated as an emergency? >

Netanyahu continues to starve and kill the people of Gaza. Putin is pretending to negotiate peace while attacking Ukraine. Trump is randomly killing Venezuelan's. They have no desire for peace. It is how they stay in power. Netanyahu, Trump and Putin are now the leaders of the new axis of evil.

A few points to challenge the Realtors Association arguments against rent control. Both the realtors and the government love to cite one specific CMHC study - but let's look at what that study actually says. 1/5 leaderpost.com/opinion/lett...
Opinion: Why rent control isn’t the answer for Saskatchewan
Rising costs put real pressure on many families, but rent control doesn’t fix affordability, writes Saskatchewan Realtors Association CEO.

Walmart and McDonald’s are among the top employers of workers who rely on food stamps.

McDonald's CEO raked in $18.2M last year — over 1,000x the company's median employee pay.

Walmart's CEO pocketed $27.4M — 930x the company's median employee pay.

See the problem?

Creating a military conflict with Venezuela gives this administration a legal "hook" to invoke the Alien Enemies Act. In other words, the foreign war is being manufactured in order to facilitate court deference for its domestic mass deportation policy. It's a Stephen Miller Special.

All of the Black Friday shopping deals remind me that I'm drowning in stuff. Are you?
Do we really need more stuff?

Again… the Indoor Aquatic Facility project is not "a new swimming pool." It's MANY swimming pools and other rec facilities in an aquatics facility. It is going to be huge and well used. And, based on 2025 dollars, cheaper than the stadium we built for a professional football team. #yqrcc

The vicious cycle of monopolization:

1) Corporations argue that their growth is just part of the free market.
2) Use their monopoly power to gouge consumers.
3) Take a portion of their profits to make political donations.
4) Lobby against antitrust enforcement.
5) Repeat.

If Carney can get Smith to agree to ratchet up industrial carbon pricing in exchange? That feels like a win.

Palestinians (like all of us) have basic rights under international law.

Stop the bombings, now.
