One of these days I will refill my fountain pen(s) without getting ink all over my fingers. Today was not one of those days.
No particular scene with a strong reaction, but I saw Snakes on a Plane with my friends. The whole theater had a blast. Beginning to end. We all knew what we were getting into seeing that movie. There was so much laughter and cheering. Fantastic experience.
Got me thinking.. What's the strongest reaction you've seen an audience member have to a scene in a cinema?

During the birthday party scene in SIGNS I saw a whole row of young women literally throw their popcorn in the air like a cartoon.
Someone in my audience had a very audible negative reaction to the dog scene in TOGETHER. So that was fun!

They burned his house down, killed his dog, desecrated it's body, called he and his husband slurs and then shot and killed him

In what FUCKING WORLD IS THAT NOT SEVERAL GOD DAMN HATE CRIMES
We got another update on Jonathan Joss’ murder in San Antonio. The SAPD are walkkng back on their statatement that his murder was not a hate crime. I’m glad the attention to this case is forcing the police department to investigate this as what it was. A hate crime. www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcn...
San Antonio police walk back statement dismissing possible hate crime in Jonathan Joss' murder
"Shouldn’t have done it. [It] was way too soon before we had real information, and I will own that," San Antonio Police Chief William P. McManus said Thursday.

Lutnick: "It's time to train people not to do the jobs of the past, but to do the great jobs of the future. This is the new model where you work in these kinds of plants for the rest of your life and your kids work here and your grandkids work here. We let the auto plants go overseas."

Exactly. Every piece of “red tape” is a response to an incident, death, food poisoning, mass disease outbreak, avoidable pregnancy deformation, Grenfell burning, money laundering, tax avoidance etc
Anyone (looking at you , Brexiters) who wants to remove them values money more than life.

I don’t have a mind horse.

But I have a mind tree. I’ve been drawing them for years, on random things.
I write thoughts into my tree. Sometimes names.

This one has my name, my mother’s name, and my daughter’s name.

given the blatant human rights abuses and crimes against humanity, the most moderate position from the democratic party in this moment should be that they prosecute and lock up the entire trump administration and heavily sanction el salvador
Van Hollen says that he asked the VP of El Salvador why his government continues to hold Abrego Garcia even though he’s not charged with any crime and there’s no evidence that he’s MS-13.

“His answer was that the Trump administration is paying the government of El Salvador to keep him at CECOT”
Senator Chris Van Hollen is speaking live from El Salvador, where he just met with the Salvadoran VP: www.youtube.com/live/pYZPzHy...

Soften your shoulders.
Take a deep breath.
Unclench your jaw.

Yup. They'll send a legitimately awful US citizen to CECOT, and anyone who criticizes it will be accused of supporting the awful person... and then they'll send someone slightly less awful. Eventually, they'll have established that they can send anyone.
The next step for Trump is to send a US citizen convicted of something like child murder and rape to CECOT in El Salvador. It'll set the precedent to send citizens there while neutralizing outrage over it because of the heinous nature of their crimes. Then it'll any felony and then protestors.

Stephen Miller is an open Nazi.
Stephen Miller claims on Fox News that returning the Maryland father who was wrongly deported to El Salvador would constitute a "kidnapping" and "invasion of El Salvador's sovereignty."

"He was not mistakenly sent to El Salvador," Miller lies. "This was the right person sent to the right place."

Let me say this again:

If a president can illegally deport someone, conspire with that country’s leader to abandon them to human rights abuses, and face no consequences, we are in a hellish authoritarian moment. What a fucking evil, illiberal government this is.

It shouldn't have to devastate you personally to care about it.

You should be able to look at someone else's pain and go "that's terrible, I wouldn't want that for myself, we should do something about that."

Like.

This is kindergarten shit.
