If my writing about autism does anything, whether it be in my books, my columns or my reported stories, I hope it advances the idea that autistic people are whole human beings as they are with legitimate needs and inner lives that deserve to be told the same as other stories.

Autistic humans are taught early that our needs are inconvenient.

So we learn to shrink.

To mask.

To make ourselves easier to be around.

But poor boundaries aren’t just about saying yes too often.

They’re about abandoning ourselves before anyone else can.

Unlearning that isn’t easy.

Something I find incredible about autistic people is that though many of us have felt desperate to fit in due to the intense and traumatic bullying we've had to endure for not (fitting in)... as desperate as we may be, many of us will not compromise our morals or integrity to do it.

Autism and POTS both get read as laziness, anxiety, or drama.

But what they really share is this - a nervous system that can’t keep up with what the world demands - sensory, cognitive, physical, emotional.

You’re not weak.

Reporter: April 9th, these tariffs come in place. Do you plan on having negotiations before that date?

Bessnet: I-I-again, I'm not part of the negotiations. So you know, w–we'll see.

Reporter: Canada and Mexico, notably missing on that chart. Why is that?

Bessent: Um. I'm not sure.

Just so we’re all clear: Congress could vote to end this tariff madness tomorrow. Every Republican who refuses to do so is actively supporting a $6 TRILLION tax hike on Americans.

Just so everybody understands, Booker has been speaking cogently about the issues the entire time and Strom Thurmond famously spent hours reading from the encyclopedia, because segregationists were and are dumbshits
If Sen. Cory Booker makes it to 7:19 p.m. EST, he will break segregationist Dixiecrat Strom Thurmond's record for his 24 hour 18 minute Senate floor speech against the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

Things Democratic Senators could do that would be useful:

- Withdraw unanimous consent from all Senate business until constitutional rule was restored

- Refuse to vote for any legislation until constitutional rule was restored

- Boycott as a caucus until constitutional rule was restored

I'm not a programming guy but MSNBC and CNN should be airing this Cory Booker thing in the same way you take over programming if there's a no-hitter or a basketball player with 60 points in three quarters. It's a physical feat! Cut in for this kind of thing. Costs nothing, gooses ratings, good TV.
