The student paper at the college at which I teach reports a "tsunami of takedown requests" from international students terrified of being targeted for innocuous, legitimate op-eds & opinions.. Many ask in person--leave no trace in writing. Reminds me of my father's account of studying in the USSR.

In case you missed it, Trump also signed an executive order today directing the AG to go after state and local climate policies. Potentially bigger deal than coal order, imo…

We're watching an incredibly rapid state collapse--faster than pretty much any except those involving tanks in the streets--in real time. I say this as a person who's been in places with tanks in the streets. And as one who reads enough to know that the first lie of fascism is inevitability.

Trump has shown a clear pattern of freeing white criminals while imprisoning or deporting non-white people who have not been charged with crimes. We'd call this racist, but that would upset right-wing birthers who don't read our paper, so we'll call this "an unusual pattern."

This essay out today is the first to name and describe "fascist anti-psychiatry"––a self-contradictory conjunction born of Trump and RFK Jr's cynical opportunism rather than any principled or coherent ideology.

RFK Jr.’s Mental Health Bait and Switch
The newly anointed HHS secretary is weaponizing legitimate anger at the failures of current psychiatric care to gut public services, abandon poor and disabled people, and expand the police state.
